About Blepharoplasty

A More Alert, Youthful
Appearance

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper or lower eyelids. It is one of the most transformative facial procedures available — often described by patients as making them look years younger and more rested, despite being a relatively straightforward outpatient surgery.

Dr. Rotter's double board-certification in dermatology and surgery, combined with his fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, means he brings extraordinary surgical precision to every blepharoplasty he performs at Exclusive Dermatology.

  • Removes excess upper eyelid skin that can hood the eye or impair vision
  • Removes or repositions lower eyelid fat that creates under-eye puffiness
  • Tightens the lower lid skin to reduce wrinkles and crepe-like texture
  • Can be combined with brow lift, fillers, or laser treatments
  • Performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia
  • Results are long-lasting — often permanent for upper lid correction

The Procedure

What to Expect

1
Consultation & Evaluation
Dr. Rotter evaluates your eyelid anatomy, discusses your goals, and determines whether upper, lower, or both eyelids should be addressed. Medical history and medication review are completed.
2
Anesthesia
Blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. The procedure is done in our West Palm Beach office — no hospital stay required.
3
Surgery (1–2 Hours)
Precise incisions are made in the natural creases of the eyelids. Excess skin, muscle, and/or fat is removed. Incisions are closed with fine sutures.
4
Recovery (1–2 Weeks)
Some swelling, bruising, and tightness is normal and resolves within 1–2 weeks. Most patients return to work in 7–10 days.
5
Results
Initial results are visible within 2–4 weeks as swelling subsides. Final results are typically apparent at 2–3 months. Results are long-lasting.
